What advice do you most frequently find yourself giving to dry eye patients?

I frequently talk to my patients about the chronic nature of the condition. There is no cure but we can work on a regimen to improve the condition and then a maintenance plan. I also explain how many people have this condition and that there is a lot of interest in this condition which means we will have other options in the future.

What makes you exceptionally well qualified to help dry eye patients?

I am very thorough. I also have dry eyes. I frequently discuss the pathophysiology and the multi-factorial causes. We discuss lifestyle, nutrition, environment, other medications and treatment options. I am willing to spend the time with patients and we are a team with commitment to work together to improve the quality of their life.
